My kids love to have a snack. I think they would rather just munch all day than to sit down and be served a meal! LOL It's not so bad to hand them a snack in a small cup or bowl while they are wondering around the house or playing in the yard. However, I can't stand to pack a snack in a pesky little Ziploc bag, it's so wasteful! So, here's a simple and fun solution to help out mother nature and make mommy happy too!

play it safe
Sometimes important information can be overlooked. Make sure your kids are safe at school and other public places. Food allergies are no joke and should be handled with care. If little ones can't speak for themselves, this is a cute way to make others aware of their food allergies.

Gotta love a SALE!
If you have held out, waiting for a SALE, it's here! Check out the wonderful lunch boxes/bags that Pottery Barn Kids has for a low price of just $11.99. And guess what...FREE shipping! I know, it doesn't get much better than that.
I was at Pottery Barn Kids in Atlanta last Friday and looked at their lunch boxes. They are sturdy, the sides do not cave in, so food is safe from being squished! They are easy to open (zipper style), they are insulated and they offer plenty of room. At the store, the lunch boxes were priced at $22.00. However, when I checked the website late Sunday night, I found a bargain!!!
The prints/styles available are limited, so hurry over!

playing with food
Let the fun begin! I've been redoing and updating around here lately. I'm sure you noticed my blogs new look. I'm not totally thrilled with it, but it will work for now. The girls are getting a wardrobe update with school starting back this next week. After a trip to Williams Sonoma, my kitchen has a few new tools for creativity with food, including their new pie molds...Yum! The yard is in the process of being re-landscaped with mulch, pine straw and additional plants. The party house is about 10 boards shy of being totally closed in. It's looking great and I think the size it perfect.
Anyway, back to my post. I am super excited about Roxy starting K5. Why? Because we can make totally cool lunches! I have been all over the web looking for healthy and fun lunch ideas. About a year ago, I found out about Bento style lunches. Talk about fun, they rock! So, I thought this would be a great time to share this concept with you. I love the ideas that Funkylunch.com shares. The Funky Lunch book is available at Amazon.com. The sandwich art is simply amazing and every bit of fun! This blog and this blog both have some great ideas for Bento style lunches. Have fun with creating lunches with love.

bright lights, big city
I love the kind of trips where you only have to pack a change of clothes and your toothbrush. Tonight's the night! Me and my love will hit the big city with our tiny travel bag for a night out. There are a few venues and attraction that will entertain us. We will enjoy a fabulous meal at a nice restaurant that has been calling our name for months. There's a beautiful hotel that is waiting on our arrival where we will enjoy the view of the city lights from the 30th floor and an all time favorite doughnut shop that we will be visiting...yum!
Enjoy your weekend!

big girl
Sometimes you look at a picture and say, "Awe, that's cute". Sometimes you look at the same picture and say, "Awe, that's sad". Have you ever done that? Well, the pictures in this post had that effect on me. The two little feet have grown, the shoes are too small and the little voice that says "I want to wear my handsome shoes" still wants to wear them even though they don't fit.
This picture shows that cute little diapered bottom that no longer needs diapers. Yes, she still wears them at times, but she hardly ever has an accident. The little voice that use to say, "Mommy, my "biker" is wet", now says "Mommy, I gotta go potty".
So, I look at the pictures with a smile on my face but with a little sadness in my heart. I know that one day I will wish that I could still lace up her shoes, sing the Abc's to her while she sits on the potty and help her pull up her Elmo panties (sigh). She's a big girl now.

found'em
Roxanne will be starting Kindergarten this year. We've started shopping for school supplies, uniforms and her backpack is all monogrammed and ready to go! While shopping I have been looking for a cute way to personalize her lunch box, supplies, water bottle and other school items. After multiple attempts, I gave it up and decided I was just weird for wanting "cute" labels. That was until I found these!
Aren't they just adorable! I'm thinking of having them customized to say "Property of..." or either "This belongs to...". I also like this monkey print for boys, how fun!

Birthday fun!
We celebrated the 4th with a birthday bash, Disney style! The Disney resort in Hilton Head is by far one of our favorite places to visit. We woke up Sunday to a day of fun events. There was bike decorating, a celebration parade, guess how many red, white & blue M&M's were in the jar, Disney staff members sporting the colors of the great USA and much, much more.
The kids had a great time decorating their bikes and entering in the contest for most creative design. The winner went to a lucky young lady who dressed her bike with "American" girl dolls. Now, that was pretty good thinking :)
We ended our fun filled day watching a huge display of fireworks on the pier at Shelter Cove. With large house boats all around us, the view was spectacular. It was awesome to see the fireworks reflect on the water below. The crowd cheered as the grande finale displayed a rainbow of colors that lit up the night sky. It was beautiful!

Rise and shine!
Today I woke to this little fella sitting on my window ledge. He's a tiny little thing. However, he's got the cutest chirps and whistles! He was up bright and early ready to "get the worm". His little body welcomed the warmth of the sunshine and his tiny legs and wings carried him from branch to branch on a Crepe Myrtle tree that I think might his home.
I hope all of you have a wonderful day!

random thoughts
So, I am rather behind on my blog post. However, I've been very busy and have lots to show for my absence. The kids were at summer camp last week and boy was that fun. Each day the kids were able to dress up according to the theme for the day. There was Pirate day, field trip & swim/water day, Mexican day, Western day and American day. The kids enjoyed being with their friends and I...well, I stayed busy.
I painted my hallway, I painted a mural (yep, I was brave - photos soon!), I have a spotless house, the laundry is cleaned and put away, the kids school shopping has begun, the party house is ready for roofing and window & door placements, I found a bargain for lights to hang in the party house along with some decor (pictures later), I purchased two new awesome sewing books, I did some outdoor planting, washed the car, cleaned out the playroom & the craft room. Shew!!!! See, I told ya I had a good reason for not blogging - LOL!!!
Happy weekend, see ya Tuesday! Enjoy the 4th :)
